Good planning as a basis
Planning is the most important step in laying the foundations for a successful installation. This involves developing a detailed concept that takes into account the user’s needs, legal regulations and future requirements. The most important aspects include:
- Demand analysis: Determining the energy requirements is essential in order to determine what type of electrical systems and devices need to be installed. This also includes special requirements such as lighting, transformer technology, busbar systems, emergency power systems, electromobility and technical stop equipment.
- Standards and regulations: Electrical installations must comply with the applicable standards and safety regulations
- Creating circuit diagrams: A detailed circuit diagram shows the position and connection of all electrical components
- Dimensioning: Choosing the right cable cross-sections and fuses. Also the electrical power of the devices and systems in relation to the power supply.
Installing the components
Once the planning phase is complete, the actual installation takes place. This step requires trained personnel to install the systems professionally and safely. Important activities during installation are
- Cable routing: The cables are laid in accordance with the wiring diagram. It must be ensured that they are protected from external influences and pose no danger to the occupants or the building.
- Installation of the electrical components: switches, sockets, fuse boxes and lighting systems are installed. Precise and proper fastening is necessary to ensure long-lasting functionality.
- Connection to the power grid: Connection to the power grid must be carried out precisely and safely. This also includes the commissioning of switch cabinets and distribution boxes as well as the proper connection of devices and machines.
- Testing and commissioning: After installation, the system is accepted and tested. This ensures that all installations have been carried out correctly and comply with safety regulations. The functional test includes testing protective measures such as residual current circuit breakers, earthing and overvoltage protection.
Maintenance and servicing
After installation, regular maintenance of the electrical systems is necessary to avoid failures and safety risks. Maintenance work includes checking cables, devices and fuses and rectifying any faults. Continuous monitoring is essential, especially in areas with high safety requirements, such as industrial plants or public buildings.
